Brown Girls Are Talking About Self Love4/13/2019 There is still work to do as we close out our yearly program! We have several upcoming events along with some amazing guests who have partnered with Brown Girls Mentoring to help sow the seed of life into our girls. This month, our focus is on Self-Love. We need self-love to thrive and grow, which is why it is crucial to teach our Brown Girls about this concept and how it can be applied to their daily lives. With this beautiful theme, we are planning an action-packed month full of wellness and thoughtful activities. This Saturday our Brown Girls will be focusing on fitness and fun! On April 13th, Mrs. LaTanya Settles and Mrs. Latonyia Perez Lyshe of Forever Free Fitness will visit us and discuss the importance of healthy living. This session will be an excellent opportunity for our Brown Girls to get active while learning about clean eating. We will also be blessed by the presence of the student chapter of the Association of Black Social Workers and the Alumni Society of the College of Social Work from the Ohio State University. They will share information regarding available community resources and provide lunch to our girls. As we continue to keep the good vibes moving, we will be visited by the Co-Found of Femergy, Maylin Sanchez. She will be a speaker for our session on Saturday, April 27, discussing the importance of Resiliency in today's world. After our regular sessions, there will be practice for our Brown Girls dance team members on April 13th and April 27th from 2 pm to 4 pm. Although April is very busy, we look forward to our most significant event of the year. Our mothers play an essential part in our lives, and we relish the idea of celebrating their spirits. This coming May, we are excited about our 2nd Annual Generations of A Queen Mother's Day Brunch. This year we are so happy to partner with Mrs. Brandy Jackson of Silver Confetti Events! We look forward to this fantastic event and would love for each of you to come out and help us celebrate those who made a tremendous impact on our lives. Tickets are on sale now and are available for purchase from our Brown Girls volunteers or online. ![]() As we maintain our focus on empowering Brown Girls, we are also very proud to have been recognized for our continuous efforts within our program. On behalf of the Brown Girls Mentoring Organization, Our lovely Co-Founder Jamie Blunt accepted the Presidents Award from the Central Ohio National Association of Negro Business and Professional Woman's Club. We are proud to have a fantastic leader who loves and support, not only our Brown Girls but the volunteers who support the program. We thank her for her tireless efforts in expanding the Ohio chapter of Brown Girls Mentoring and look forward to future endeavors. Congratulations Mrs. Jamie!
